Taking Assessments

Complete assessments as a learner, including accessing exams and understanding your results.

Assessments test your understanding of course material and may be required for certification or professional development credit.

You can access assessments through several locations in the Learn module:

  1. Dashboard - Required assessments appear in your “Required Content” section
  2. Assessment Library - Browse all available assessments by navigating to Learn > Assessments
  3. Content Libraries - Assessments within specific content packages
  4. Learning Paths - Assessments embedded in structured learning sequences

To begin an assessment:

  1. Click on the assessment title or the play button
  2. Review any instructions or time limits displayed
  3. For proctored assessments, enter the enrollment code provided by your proctor
  4. Click “Start Assessment” to begin

Note: Some assessments require a proctor to be present. You’ll see a “Proctored” indicator for these exams.

Once you start an assessment, you’ll see:

  • Question counter showing current question and total (e.g., “3 of 15”)
  • Timer if the assessment is timed
  • Navigation buttons to move between questions
  • Question text and answer options
  • Progress indicator showing completion status

The system supports several question formats:

Select one correct answer from the provided options. Click the radio button next to your choice.

Choose all correct answers from the options. Check the boxes for each correct response.

Type your response in the text field. These questions may be automatically or manually graded depending on the assessment setup.

Use the navigation controls to move through the assessment:

  • Next - Move to the following question
  • Previous - Return to earlier questions
  • Question List - Jump directly to specific questions (if enabled)

Your answers are automatically saved as you progress through the assessment.

For timed assessments:

  • The remaining time displays prominently at the top of the screen
  • You’ll receive warnings when time is running low
  • The assessment automatically submits when time expires
  • Your progress saves continuously, so you won’t lose work if disconnected

When you’ve completed all questions:

  1. Review your answers using the question navigation
  2. Click “Submit Assessment”
  3. Confirm your submission in the dialog box
  4. Wait for your results to process

Important: You cannot change answers after submitting unless retakes are allowed.

After submission, you’ll see your assessment results including:

  • Final Score - Your points earned and percentage
  • Pass/Fail Status - Whether you met the passing threshold
  • Passing Score - The minimum score required
  • Attempt Number - Which attempt this represents
  • Completion Date - When you finished the assessment

For comprehensive assessments, results may include:

  • Performance by question or section
  • Time spent on each area
  • Comparison to passing standards
  • Areas for improvement

If retakes are allowed:

  1. Return to the assessment from your content library
  2. Click the play button to start a new attempt
  3. Your highest score typically counts as your final grade
  4. Previous attempts remain in your history

Note: Some assessments limit the number of retakes or require waiting periods between attempts.

Successful completion of assessments may generate:

  • Certificates - Official credentials you can download and print
  • Transcript Entries - Records for professional development tracking
  • Completion Badges - Visual indicators of your achievements

These appear in your Learn dashboard and can be accessed from your profile.

For supervised assessments:

  1. Wait for your proctor to provide the enrollment code
  2. Enter the code when prompted
  3. Follow any additional instructions from your proctor
  4. Complete the assessment under supervision
  5. Your proctor will verify your identity and monitor your session

For the best assessment experience:

  • Use a stable internet connection

If you encounter issues during an assessment:

  • Check with your instructor about content questions
  • Review the assessment instructions for specific guidance

Remember that assessment policies vary by organization, so consult your local guidelines for specific requirements about retakes, time limits, and passing scores.
