Course Assessments and Exams
Complete course assessments, understand scoring, and retake exams when needed.
Course assessments measure your understanding of the material and may be required for certification or professional development credit. The system tracks your attempts, scores, and progress automatically.
Taking Course Assessments
Section titled “Taking Course Assessments”Assessments are embedded within courses and appear as you progress through the content.
Starting an Assessment
Section titled “Starting an Assessment”- Navigate to your assigned course from My Learning
- Complete any prerequisite sections marked as required
- Click the assessment section when it becomes available
- Review any special instructions or time limits before beginning
- Click Start Assessment to begin
During the Assessment
Section titled “During the Assessment”- Answer all questions completely
- Use the Previous and Next buttons to navigate between questions
- Your answers are automatically saved as you progress
- Review your responses before final submission
- Click Submit Assessment when ready to complete
Assessment Types
Section titled “Assessment Types”Multiple Choice: Select the best answer from the provided options
Multiple Selection: Choose all correct answers from the list
Short Answer: Provide written responses in the text field provided
Understanding Scoring and Results
Section titled “Understanding Scoring and Results”Viewing Your Scores
Section titled “Viewing Your Scores”After completing an assessment, you can view detailed results:
- Go to My Learning and locate the completed course
- Click on the course to view your enrollment details
- Your final score and status appear in the results section
- Expand individual attempts to see question-by-question performance
Score Information
Section titled “Score Information”Final Score: Your overall percentage on the assessment
Passing Score: The minimum percentage required to pass (typically set by your administrator)
Status: Shows Pass, Fail, or In Progress
Attempts: Number of times you’ve taken the assessment
Result Details
Section titled “Result Details”The results page shows:
- Your score for each section or exam within the assessment
- Date and time of completion
- Proctor information (if the assessment was proctored)
- Detailed breakdown by attempt
Retaking Failed Assessments
Section titled “Retaking Failed Assessments”You can retake most assessments if you don’t achieve a passing score on your first attempt.
Retake Process
Section titled “Retake Process”- Return to the course from My Learning
- Navigate to the failed assessment section
- Click Retake Assessment or Start Assessment again
- Complete the assessment following the same process
- Your new score will replace the previous attempt for grading purposes
Retake Policies
Section titled “Retake Policies”- Most courses allow multiple attempts
- Some assessments may have attempt limits set by your administrator
- Your highest score typically counts as your official grade
- All attempts remain visible in your results history
Proctored Retakes
Section titled “Proctored Retakes”If your original assessment was proctored, retakes may also require proctoring:
- Contact your administrator to schedule a proctored retake session
- You’ll receive an enrollment code for the proctored session
- Complete the assessment during the scheduled proctored time
Assessment Progress Tracking
Section titled “Assessment Progress Tracking”Completion Status
Section titled “Completion Status”Your assessment status appears throughout the system:
Not Started: Assessment not yet attempted
In Progress: Assessment started but not completed
Completed - Pass: Assessment completed with passing score
Completed - Fail: Assessment completed but score below passing threshold
Professional Development Credit
Section titled “Professional Development Credit”Passed assessments may count toward your professional development requirements:
- PD hours are awarded upon successful completion
- Credit appears in your transcript automatically
- Certificates are generated for qualifying assessments
- Hours count toward annual PD requirements
Troubleshooting Assessment Issues
Section titled “Troubleshooting Assessment Issues”Technical Problems
Section titled “Technical Problems”If you experience technical difficulties during an assessment:
- Refresh your browser and return to the assessment
- Your answers should be automatically saved
- Contact technical support if problems persist
- Document any error messages you receive
Questions About Content
Section titled “Questions About Content”For questions about assessment content or scoring:
- Review the course materials for clarification
- Contact your instructor or course administrator
- Check if additional study resources are available
- Request feedback on specific questions if allowed
